What's Changing
• The U.S. Mint has stopped making pennies: The final circulating penny was struck on November 12, 2025, in Philadelphia.
• Why: It costs more than one cent to produce a penny; recent estimates are about 3.7–4 cents per coin.
What Stays the Same
- Pennies are still money: Pennies remain legal tender. You can spend them, and we will accept deposits that include pennies.
- We will order pennies for you if supply is available.
- Your accounts and payments: Checks, ACH, wires, cards, and digital payments are not affected. Balances and postings remain exact to the cent.
Possible Future Changes
- Rounding for cash purchases: Congress is considering legislation that could formalize the end of the penny and set rounding rules for cash transactions.
If adopted, we will keep our customers updated on those changes.
How We Can Help
